Kumho Tires Dominates PRO 2 in Traxxas TORC Series with 2 Wins Perris, CA
Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., June 3, 2009— Ricky Johnson has done it again; the Red Bull/Bosch/Kumho Tire Team of Barlow Motorsports has not finished off the podium yet in the Traxxas TORC Series in 2009. Round 3 and 4 were held at Perris Auto Speedway May, 29, and 30, with record crowds on hand to witness the domination of Johnson’s Ford F-150 take home 2-1st place trophies, and 2 Oakley Bomb Awards for fastest lap of the race in Pro 2.
Johnson, driver, CEO, and TORC Series co-founder wears many hats during the weekend, but none is sweeter than wearing the hat of a 3 time winner. Ricky had his work cut out for him up against the likes of Rob MacCachren, Jeremy McGrath, Scott Taylor, and Todd LeDuc for the latest rounds of the Traxxas TORC Series presented by Amsoil. With the crowds on their feet, Johnson would take the lead from Jeremy McGrath and never look back, taking the checkered flag in 1st position for the third time in four races.
Johnson’s no stranger to the winners circle, in the first rounds of the series, the Red Bull/Bosch team placed 1st and 2nd while sweeping rounds 3 and 4 in Perris, CA with 2 wins. Currently the Kumho shod truck of Ricky Johnson is leading the points in the PRO 2 class before heading to the Midwest for classic tracks such as Crandon and Bark River.
“This was a great weekend for Kumho Tires,” said Brian Robertson, Kumho Tires off-road racing coordinator. “To be the official tire of the series and start the season off like this in PRO 2 really shows that Kumho Tires has made the right decision to be involved with TORC. They run a first class show, bring the best drivers and teams and to be leading the points right now in PRO 2 shows that Kumho off-road products have what it takes to run with the best”
