Kumho Tire Teams Earn Podium Positions at Crandon

  1. Scott Douglas Wins Big
  2. Scott Douglas and Chad Hord 1st and 2nd PRO 4
  3. Ricky Johnson 2nd in PRO 2

Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., September 10, 2009—The Traxxas TORC Series presented by AMSOIL made its return to Crandon International Off Road Raceway for the second time this season. Over 40,000 off road fans came to watch the best drivers in the business take on the fastest track on the TORC circuit.

Saturday in the KUMHO PRO 4x4 class, Kyle LeDuc would take the lead from the beginning until he was given the black flag for wrecking Steve Barlow’s Kumho Tire/Red Bull entry in the first laps of the race. Kyle LeDuc was sent to the back of the pack leaving the window open for Scott Douglas to take the lead and run away with the win, earning his team a $10,000 check in the process. Chad Hord would take second place and the Oakley Bomb in his first PRO 4x4 TORC race. Chad Hord showed great speed and endurance while chasing Scott Douglas but time ran out to challenge for the top spot on the podium in his first outing with the Amsoil/Kumho super team.

In the AMSOIL PRO 2WD class, Todd LeDuc took the points lead away from Ricky Johnson by finishing first and taking the Oakley Bomb Award; Johnson would end up fifth on Saturday. Johnson’s Kumho/Red Bull team rebounded on Sunday with a hard fought second place to gain the overall points lead over Todd LeDuc once again. With only a two-point lead for Johnson, the remaining races will be a key factor in crowning a champion.

Jeff Kincaid and Kumho driver Chad Hord continued their domination of the PRO Light class on Saturday taking first and second respectively. Chad Hord, doing double duty in PRO Light and Kumho PRO 4X4 class, was on his game for the weekend also finishing second in Sunday’s race to maintain points to be within reach of a championship. Hord sits in second place overall, eleven points behind Kincaid with two races remaining on the schedule.

The next stop on the 2009 TORC race schedule is Perris Auto Speedway in Perris, California. The action will take place over two evenings, October 23rd and 24th, 2009.
