Kumho Tires gains OE fitment on Dodge Journey
Kumho Tire Co., Inc. has landed its first original equipment business with a U. S. auto manufacturer for a vehicle that will be sold in the United States.
Kumho will supply tires for the 2009 Dodge Journey, a crossover vehicle that will go on sale later this year. Two sizes of Kumho’s Solus KH16 will be fitted on the Journey: 225/55R19 or 225/65R17.
The KH16 provides excellent traction in all weather conditions and minimal noise while delivering long mileage. The KH16 was engineered to deliver the best balance of handling, grip and wear to meet the needs of a wide range of vehicles. The KH16 was featured on cars and exhibited at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA) and at the 2008 North American International Auto Show.
“Supplying OE tires for the Dodge Journey is the result of our manufacturing techniques and quality verification processes that enable Kumho to meet the tire quality standards of global automobile companies,” said Sae Chul Oh, CEO of Kumho Tire Co., Inc. “We expect OE fitments to bring enormous sales ripples in the replacement equipment tire market and to improve recognition of the Kumho brand name.”
Kumho has an announced goal of becoming the number five tire manufacturer in the world by 2015. In addition to its global replacement tire business, the company also provides OE tires to several leading car manufacturers including Mercedes Benz, Chrysler, Volkswagen, Daewoo, Hyundai, Kia and Suzuki.
