Chad Hord Wins Pro Light After Severe Crash
Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., June3, 2009—Nothing could prepare you for the outcome to the Pro Light race of the Traxxas TORC Series Saturday night held at Perris Auto Speedway in Perris, CA. The fans came to see some great action and the premier short course racing of TORC wouldn’t disappoint.
Chad Hord, running on Kumho Tires, was in a comfortable 3rd position early in the race heading into a caution period when at the green flag a truck jumped the start and really created havoc for the front runners. After turn one, the leaders tangled with the rogue driver and soon Chad Hord and Jeff Huseman would find themselves upside down and rolling like a barrel. Hord would come to a stop on top of the inside barrier with almost no bodywork left from the incident. The course marshals were able to get him on his Kumho Tires and continue, but not without a short pit stop to replace a damaged wheel and tire from the contact.
After a short red flag to pick up the debris and make sure everyone was OK, Chad lined up behind the pace truck and took the green flag. It didn’t take long before he was putting pressure on the leader, Jeff Kincaid. With only three laps remaining the crowd was on it’s feet cheering for Hord as he shot past Kincaid to score the first victory for Kumho Tires in Pro Light, and the first for Chad Hord in 2009.
Chad Hord is tied for the overall lead in championship points heading into the next rounds of the Traxxas TORC Series after placing 3rd and 1st at Perris Auto Speedway.
